    ]]>     http://www.tanasi.it/880-lol-destino.html/feed 0     Carnivore http://www.tanasi.it/870-carnivore.html http://www.tanasi.it/870-carnivore.html#comments Tue, 13 Mar 2007 11:52:00 +0000 jekil http://localhost/wordpress/?p=852 Ispirato da un post di Matteo Flora su OSEMINTI (Operational Semantic Intelligence Infrastructure), un progetto dell’EDA (European Defense Agency) sviluppato da Italia, Spagna e Francia per l’intercettazione e validazione di traffico internet, parlo del sistema piu` anziano e arcaico un tempo utilizzato oltreoceano dall’FBI.
    Carnivore e` un sistema per lo spionaggio automatizzato creato dall’FBI, nato nel 1997 come evoluzione del precedente progetto Omnivore.
    Il sistema e` composto da semplici workstation windows che vengono installate presso gli ISP e a cui viene fornita visibilita` sui flussi di rete.
    Grazie a semplici sniffer e qualche script ogni black-box o "scatolotto" puo` essere configurato per intercettare (sniffare) un particolare flusso di rete o una particolare tipologia di traffico (mail, navigazione web, ecc.), ad esempio per ottenere informazioni per indagini giudiziarie.
    L’idea e` quindi avere un’infrastruttura di sonde per sniffare il traffico in tutti gli ISP in modo da poter intercettare istantaneamente e senza intervento un umano presso l’ISP.
    Tutto sommato e` una soluzione abbastanza homemade rispetto alle problematiche e alle tecnologie, allineata con quello che all’epoca chiunque poteva far da se nella sua piccola realta` con prodotti open o commerciali.
    Il progetto Carnivore e` stato abbandonato nel febbraio 2002 per obsolescenza rispetto alla tecnologia attuale e per l’orientamento verso soluzioni commerciali.
